I <3 book sales

I decided to go to the Sunnyvale & Santa Clara book sales today. Because how can you pass up $.50 to $1 books? Anyway I ended up buying like 5 novels (NYT best sellers too so I hope they don’t let me down…) and a couple really, really outdated books on marketing and printing. Just for fun. I think I might have a problem collecting used books when I only read like one book a year. Including textbooks…yes, one book a year.

What I thought was amusing though was that at out of all the book sales, flea markets, and garage sales I’ve been to, I’ve seen this one book like 97% of the time. And often multiple copies too. Can you guess what book?

The Lovely Bones.

I don’t get it. I thought it was an interesting book…kind of dark but still easy to read. Why does nobody want it? I bet half of them are from Cal Poly students from my year (remember it was that summer book they “required” us to read for WOW?).

Eh. Oh well. Sorry, Alice Sebold. Anyway just a thought. If anyone wants a book to read, let me know. I still have my copy of the Lovely Bones. Haha just kidding.

Oh by the way, I just watched New Moon on DVD. If you’re a Twilight fan, stop reading now. Because I thought it was a waste of time. Stephenie Meyer is a terrible author. The Twilight Saga is the same crap over and over again. If I can credit Meyer with anything, it’s the ability to take a boring, cliche story and stretch it out into 4 (Midnight Sun doesn’t count because it’s Twilight 2.0) novels. The reason I even read them in the first place was because I had hope that it would somehow get better since it was hyped up so much. Still, after every book, I was more and more disappointed. Then the movies came. I thought “Hey, the books were terrible. I guess the movie can’t get any worse.” Oh man. I was so wrong. None of them can act. Period. Twilight = Bad. I decided to give New Moon a try, once again, because I had hope that it would get better (at least the acting. I already knew the storyline was done for). But nope. Also garbage. So I think it’s safe to say…that I will not be wasting another $1 on Eclipse. I will give the actors the benefit of the doubt though. It must be difficult to act in such a boring movie with cheesy lines and a terrible plot.

I guess I shouldn’t be so negative since they clearly did something right and have become super successful. And also since I read books like Harry Potter. But I just think J.K. Rowling has more imagination in her writing, even if it is simple. I should have listened to Stephen King.

So sorry if I offended Team Jacob or Team Edward or whatever. It’s just my honest opinion.

I decided to update my portfolio again. It’s nothing special but I had fun with that cool javascript slide show thing on the main page. And if you ever wondered why I always use the same picture and clouds in all my social media sites…now you know. I like to keep my things consistent. Soooo if you want to visit…click on the image if you’re too lazy to move your mouse to the left side and click that link. Hardeeharhar.
